PRE MED COURSEWORK

To go along with my university studies, I incorporated prerequisites for a post graduate program somewhere in the medical field. Listed below are some of the pre-medical classes I have taken throughout my college career that has better equipped me to go into a healthcare profession.

BIOL
1030 & 1040

GENERAL BIOLOGY 1 & 2

Focused on an evolutionary approach to cells, cellular activities, genetics, and animal diversity emphasizing the processes of science. Before proceeding to learn the evolutionary approach to human anatomy and physiology, plant diversity, morphology, and physiology and principles of ecology.

CH

1010 & 1020

GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1 & 2

Introduction to the elementary concepts of chemistry through classroom and laboratory experience. Emphasizes chemical reactions and the use of symbolic representation, the mole concept and its applications and molecular structure. Leading to the continuation of treating solutions, rates of reactions, chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, chemistry of selected elements, and an introduction to organic chemistry

CH 2230

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1

Introductory course in the principles of organic chemistry and the derivation of these principles from a study of the properties, preparations, and interrelationships of the important classes of organic compounds

BIOL

2220 & 2230

HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 1 & 2

Basic introductory course in integrated human anatomy and physiology covering cells and tissues; integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems; sensory organs.  With a continuation covering endocrine, reproductive, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, and digestive systems; fluid and electrolyte balance. Physiology is stressed in both courses.

HLTH 2600

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION

Skills in building, analyzing, defining, pronouncing, and spelling medical terms related to the human body are developed and applied through electronic communication.

NUTR 2030

INTRODUCTION TO PRINCIPALS OF HUMAN NUTRITION

Study of nutrient functions and requirements, food choices, dietary adequacy, and role of nutrition in physical fitness. Deals with social and scientific issues; evaluation and interpretation of nutrition sources from government, private, academic, and the health care sectors.

LIH 4000

INTERNSHIP ABROAD

One semester completing a full-time internship in a health care or a health administration setting in a country where the target language is spoken.

SOC 2010

INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

Sociological perspective: the study of contemporary groups, organizations, and societies in terms of human social behavior, social change, social structure, and social institutions

MATH 1060 & 1080

CALCULUS OF ONE VARIABLE 1 & 2

Topics include analytic geometry, introduction to derivatives, computation and application of derivatives, integrals, exponential and logarithm functions. Which then lead into learning more advanced topics including  transcendental functions, applications of integration, integration techniques, indeterminate forms, improper integrals, parametric equations, polar coordinates, and infinite series

STATS  2300

STATISTICAL METHODS 1

Basic concepts and methods of statistical inference; organization and presentation of data, elementary probability, measures of central tendency and variation, tests of significance, sampling, simple linear regression and correlation. Stresses the role of statistics in interpreting research and the general application of the methods.
