Outcomes of Natural Disaster Preparedness
This artifact was written in my Determinants of Health Behavior class, focusing on the effects of social determinants of health on vulnerable populations within America during natural disasters. Our class was tasked with selecting a relevant health topic, being encouraged to choose a health issue or problem that you were interested in or passionate about, giving us the opportunity to become health experts in that topic. Before this paper and really even this class I knew very little of the social determinants of health and how it affected our day-to-day lives. I decided to choose natural disaster preparedness because I felt that it was something everyone was aware of but knew little about. Assessing preparedness strategies and preparation, I learned an incredible amount from the studies and stories I found during the research and writing process. It challenged me to look both in and outside of the box, evaluating all socio ecological factors as well as utilizing different theory models to provide recommendations for my target population.

Social Development Goals Country Analysis
This artifact was completed during my Spring 2024 semester while taking Global Health. The objective for this project was to select a low income country, assess their progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and give a few recommendations on how they could improve some of the overall goals. After looking over several countries I decided to settle for Nepal. In March 2022 I went to Nepal on a mission trip to work with girls who have been rescued out of sex trafficking, going to different urban and rural parts to provide water filters and rice to the villages the girls came from. I have seen and experienced so many different aspects and emotions during that trip which inspired me to learn more about the country I feel in love with. Researching the different sustainable development goals (SDGs) provided me with a deeper understanding of the country and how it functioned, and I knew I wanted to take a different approach to this project. I decided to highlight and focus on two SDGs so I could go into greater depth in my analysis. This was one of my most favorite and rewarding projects that I accomplished while working toward my undergraduate degree.
